Of course, when you visit another country you don't have the convenient option of using your native language if you feel like it. There are many people who claim that immersing themselves in the new language made them learn it faster than they could have any other way. Register for a course. There are a lot of people who are not comfortable taking a Spanish course with other students. Courses usually involve speaking the language out loud as you learn it in front of the other students in the class. Many people feel this is intimidating.
Even if stumbling through the new language out loud makes you uncomfortable, it's still a good idea. That's the best way to learn because everyone else is learning, too! Watching these shows and movies can help you learn to understand Spanish the way it is actually spoken without having to spend money to travel somewhere. This is great if you don't live near a Spanish speaking population. You can start out by leaving the subtitles on. As your understanding improves, try turning them off and see how you do. Keep doing this, and your learning will improve fast. If you need help in your study of Spanish, there are quite a few tools available that can be of use. There's no reason not to take advantage of the many sources of help that are out there today. Some hints will work for you while other hints won't. Test many learning strategies until you find one that appeals to you. You'll eventually find a few that help you and, before you know it, you'll be speaking Spanish!
